| Brief Description | This session focuses on various health-related issues surrounding older people and later life mainly in Korea and Japan, the countries that have experience the world’ rapidest population ageing over the past decade. The first presentation introduces and discusses the role of the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA), started since 2003 by the Division of Geriatrics in Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, as a pivotal research tool aiming to enhance the quality of elderly care in Korea. The second presentation discusses the current status of Geriatric Telemedicine, which has to date been conspicuously underutilized in Japan, despite its potential value to cost-effectively address the health needs of the elderly. Together, this session aims to explore how these specific areas of health-related practices might be strengthened to address, effectively and efficiently, the ever-mounting need to improve the quality of elderly care in these two hyper-aged countries and beyond. |
